David James Smith, M.D., is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a Diplomat of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, an Associate member of The American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and also a member of American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

With over 28 years of experience utilizing posterior epidural stimulation and implantation of Medtronic synchromed II infusion pumps, Dr. Smith is also trained in decompression both indirect and direct spinal procedures to improve function and remove chronic pain; and is dedicated to ensuring his patients are satisfied and their pain is controlled.
Being readily available to patients and colleagues is a priority for Dr. Smith, he also develops a unique care plan focusing on the needs of each client, and continues his education to provide the utmost care.
Dr. Sharon Thompson
Dr. Sharron Thompson has an impressive and extensive background in the medical field. She grew up in North Carolina and decided to attend several noteworthy institutions. She graduated with her bachelor’s of science in biology and chemistry with a teaching degree, masters in genetics, and went on to become an M.D.
Dr. Thompson is a light hearted individual who wants to help those experiencing chronic pain get relief. She has a history of completing her residency, specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation with an emphasis on pediatrics. After residency, Dr. Thompson continued her work and learning with the National Health Service Corporation, Watts Health Center/United Health Plan, and Chief Rehab Services.
Subsequently, Dr. Thompson has served in multiple and varied medical positions in California, Tennessee, Georgia, and North Carolina. These positions have included Medical Directorships, clinical professor and staff physicians. While serving these positions a multitude of experience was gained in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as private and public practices/ institutions.

Our Proven Approach
Our approach is to evaluate each patient individually and develop a personalized treatment plan based on patient diagnosis and goals. Psychological counseling can also be available for those patients who require a more personalized psychological approach to their pain. In addition, opioid use is carefully monitored with random drug screening, using the Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry Screening system (LCMS), as well as the DEA patient activity reports.

Since 1999 Dr. Smith has performed many interventional treatments and outpatient surgeries using a comprehensive and individualized approach; and we welcome the opportunity to serve patients who are suffering from chronic pain.
